Why I Don't Watch Soccer

(besides the fact that we don't have cable)

There have been twelve games so far in the World Cup. In those games:
  • Nine teams have gone the entire game without scoring a goal.
  • Twelve teams only scored one goal the entire game.
  • Only three teams scored more than one goal.
  • Almost half the games (five) have finished in a tie. (Really? A tie? Who finishes games with a tie? That's why overtime was invented!)
I guess I basically like winners and losers and lots of points scored. Therefore, I've never really gotten into soccer.

Soccer fans and purists, feel free to make your case.

Ah Ah Ah we need to talk!!! You obviously do not understand the nuances of the FIFA WSC! Of course they don't do overtime because they are not only playing on the field against one opponant but against other teams against time...aka whoever gets the most goals total is as important as how many games you won within your group! Argh I've got to explain it better. Plus if you could actually watch it you would admire the intensity of the game and the finesse of their play. It's mind blowing a bit like last night finals between the lakers and the celtics. Did you get to watch that? It's more intense than a "regular" game, right? same with World Cup! Man, it's been so great to watch (even if France was a big loser team this year...where is Zidane?)! Did I make my case? Did I take all your Comments space?

Oh yes, I completely agree! Nick was upset when I brought up these same points...how can it be a great game when no one scores????? And how can a game end in a tie??? (and everyone still feels like it was a great game!)...

But Nick being European of course doesn't understand why it takes huge teams of men 4 hours to play football and they get 6 points per score (shouldn't you only get 1 point per endzone play) and they get to rest every 10 seconds!

"Like" as well. And you forgot to mention the incessant buzzing from the noisemakers. What IS that all about? Why has no one banned that yet? Weirdness.
